Even though it's not Wednesday

Happy Thursday!
I meant to write this post yesterday because I love "What I'm Loving Wednesdays" so let's just pretend it's Wednesday but only in the blogger world, not the outside world because I am too ready for the weekend already!

Here's what I'm LOVING this week!

I'm loving my 5:30am Gym time! I know it sounds crazy but I feel sooooo good when it's done and it just seems to start my day off right! They also keep me more motivated throughout the day to stick to clean eating. And BONUS they give me more time with the hubs after work since I've already fit in my gym time :)

I'm loving frozen yogurt! It's been crazy hot this week and it's nice to have an interesting cold treat that you make healthy (or so not much with yummy things like butterfinger pieces and sprinkles!)

I'm loving my crazy nails! I love bright pinks and using different shades! Super cute and cheerful while I type all day :)

Finally as always, I'm loving my sweet husband! This week he came up with the idea to keep our tv off (most of the time we're home) so we could actually DO things together! We picked up the game stratego and spent a nice few hours playing that this week!

These are just a few of the things I'm loving this week! How about y'all? What are you loving?

Why can't everyday be like Saturday?

This past Saturday, to be exact! After a long work week and a laid back Friday night, Andrew and I took a mini road trip with our friends on Saturday to our friend Rebecca's family's lakehouse! I'm so glad we went despite waking up and wondering why on earth we were up so early on a Saturday. It took us a good few hours to get there, but boy did we get to see some pretty Texas countryside on the way! Once we got to the lake house, our day was full of swimming in the lake, wakeboarding (attempts at, I should say), laying out, tubing, playing games, and eating! It was the most perfect way to spend a Saturday! Rebecca's family was so sweet and made all our meals, so our only job was to relax and it felt great!

Amazing view of the dock and the lake!

My goal this summer is to get some sun every weekend since I'm inside 40 hours a week and refuse to look ghostly. I think I may have gotten in 2 weekends worth of sun in one day! My face ended the day a nice redish color and my poor hubby got "lobster legs" from canoeing in the Texas sun , so needless to say, we spent Sunday in doors. I know everyday can't be that awesome because of that thing called the real world, but it was nice to take a time-out from everyday life and just breathe. Despite my love with the gym, it was even nice to have a day off from working out! Our summer is off to a great start and it promises to be a busy one! It seems that every few weekends we are in Houston and as nice as it is to see family, we deeply enjoy the weekends that we don't have to make that drive. As far as the rest of the week goes, it seems to be a normal week with a trip to Houston this weekend (of course!) to see one of my favorites get married! One a plus side, there's a chance my mom is flying in for a visit which is becoming more often than not (which I LOVE)!

Us in our fishing shirts!

Fell in love with this picture years ago and they had it hanging at the lake house!

My goal for the week: get in as many 5am workouts as I can! I know that sounds insane, and I have attempted it now for 2 weeks and can't seem to peel myself out of bed...but this is the week! Because of working 8-5, I tend to get in my workouts at night which leaves less time with my hubby, so I'd rather workout in the AM while he's still asleep! Here's hoping!

It's...Monday!

I can't believe it's already Monday! The weekend was fun but went by WAYYYY too fast! Andrew and I went to my company's picnic on Friday which was a lot of fun. He got to meet a lot of the people I work with and we enjoyed free food and some baseball! It was really hot and we actually left early! We ended up seeing a movie and getting coffee with friends so it was a really great date night! On Saturday we visited with our sweet friends from church and we made a big breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, turkey bacon, waffles, and fruit! Having breakfast with people is something Andrew and I love but usually we're at a restaurant so being at our friend's house was so fun! We spent the rest of the day together and LOVED every minute of it! We went to a few yard sales! Come to find out, we like yard sales! Then we hit up the pool and no one was there! We basically had a big pool all to ourselves for a few hours and it was so nice! My goal this summer is to get as much sun on the weekends as I can since I'm inside 40 hours a week! After the pool we grabbed chick-fil-a (yum!) and came home and crashed! Later that night we hung out with our neighbors and had ice cream. On Sunday, Andrew decided to drive down to Houston to spend Father's Day with his dad. Being that mine is 2000 miles away and I didn't want to make a day drive to Houston on a Sunday, I stayed home! My day was so productive it was almost like a work day! I cleaned every inch (well almost) of my house including laundry, dusting, vacumming, cleaning out the refridgerator (gross!), grocery shopping, and cleaning out the cat box. By the time I crawled into bed, I was exhausted! But it sure felt great to wake up to a clean house this morning!

Me and my sweet dad whom I am so grateful to have!

This weekend was my verison of fun. My ultimate goal on the weekends is to get time with the hubby and that's what I got! We had time together, time with friends, time to just be home...ahhh I loved it! I really am so grateful for everything we have right now. I am so thankful we have a frigde full of groceries, a sweet cat to come home to, a cozy place to live, cars that run, our own washer and dryer...so many things! I am more and more aware of these things every time I get groceries or clean the house because as I grumble about having to do it, I realize how blessed I am to be able to do these things. Ok, I'm done, you get the picture! Not sure what this week holds for us. It seems to be pretty laid back and this weekend we are planning on going to our friend's lakehouse!

Oo and on a side-note, I FINALLY have a menu for this week!
Black bean burgers
Baked egg cups
BBQ burger
Chipoltle chicken salad
Funfetti cupcakes

All of these are healthy recipes and I'm eager to try them out! I'll let y'all know how it goes!

What a week!

It's really more like what a month! I feel like Andrew and I have been so busy! May flew by for us in many ways. I left my part time job in retail and started a brand new "Big Girl" job! Because I am now done with school, I was ready for something steady and full time that would honor me being as college grad (or soon to be in August!) and I found a job I really love. The short version is that I am a receptionist with a lot of other responsibilites for a company in town. I love being in a healthy, professional work environment! Everyone has been so nice and welcoming and I'm enjoying it, while still getting used to the 40-hours a week thing! Since I'm now off on the weekends, it seems like our weekends have become really busy! We spent one weekend driving to Houston, then Austin (for my cousin's wedding), then back home. The wedding was wonderful and it was so great to be around my family! Last weekend we were blessed to be "lazy" and it was great! Andrew and I had time to spend relaxing, picking up the house, and even went swimming!

Me and my AMAZING Grandmother at my cousin's wedding!

Now on to this week...
It's been a long week mainly because I drove to Houston on Tuesday for a needle biopsy. Back in February they discovered a small mass in my breast and I had it examined and needle biopsied then, but it grew and a few weeks ago the doctor said she wanted to take another sample because she didn't know what it was (great feeling! NOT). So, after going through another needle biopsy, I got my results today and they are BENIGN! There was no sign of A-typical cells or anything unusual. The cells apparently resemble that of a Fibroadema, which is something that a younger women can face if they discover a mass. So basically...I'm OKAY!!! I had a "Guzillion" people praying for me and I felt their prayers ALL week! I really was at peace while I waited for the results, and I am so grateful to God for good answers! The next step is to schedule a surgery to remove the mass because since it has grown, the doctor wants it taken out, which is FINE with me! This week has seemed crazy mainly because of the mass situation and now we get to end it on a good note. IT'S FRIDAY!! Tonight, the hubs and I are going to my company's picnic which includes a baseball, free food, and a fireworks show! We have a plan to make a big homemade breakfast with friends tomorrw and hopefully we will be spending the rest of the weekend at home! (however, Houston is on the back burner...as always)

This was a sweet note my boss left me before my procedure on Tuesday!

Overall things are good with Hahns! God is so faithful to provide for us, keep us safe and well, and we definitely feel His prescence constantly in our lives. I wish I could spend this Father's Day with my Dad, but living so far away, I miss these holidays. This summer still plans to be a busy one! I graduate in August, we plan to visit the fam in July, and then who knows what else! Hope y'all are enjoying this great beginning to summer!

Me and the hubs at the reception!

Another highlight of my summer so far: catching a 20" red fish! Biggest I've ever caught!

We're Back!!

Hello All!
I can't believe how long it's been!!! If I was to catch y'all up on everything that's gone on since my last post 10 months ago, it would be a very longggggg post, so instead I thought I'd summarize it all up in a few bullet points:

  • We had our 2nd wedding reception in August (celebrated with family and friends up north)
  • We had our first married Thanksgiving which consisted of us staying home and having a friend over from church- I made a full homemade thanksgiving meal consisting of appetizers, a crock pot roast, mashed potatoes, 3 pies, and so much more! - for 3 people :)
  • Andrew and I had our 1st married Christmas with my parents and brother in Massachusetts and it was the BEST Christmas ever! We had an amazing time as a new family of 5, made lots of memories, and had tons of laughs
  • In January, Andrew and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! Looking back, we had a great 1st year which was relatively smooth  and full of wonderful newlywed "firsts"! In typical married people fashion, due to miss-communications we had a rough day trying to celebrate 1 year, so we had a "do-over" the next day! The great thing is that we'll be married for the rest of our lives, so we're continually making memories, some good and some not so good, and learning a lot from them!
  • Also in January, we went to Las Vegas with my cousin and his girlfriend and as I thought, I am NOT a Vegas person. The food was amazing and there's a lot of beautiful architecture, but casinos and all that comes with it are not my cup of tea. On the positive side, we had some great laughs and saw some neat things!
  • Since January, Andrew has started a business here which has a lot of promise, but to be honest has been really hard for me. Even now it's a constant struggle to not be bitter about so many things that come with starting a business.  It keeps me praying daily and realizing how heavily we need and depend on God. We have also had a lot of moments since then where we have seen God's supernatural provision for us, so now we continue to pray for blessing on his business and God's guidance in our life.
  • I spend this semester student teaching twice a week, working three times a week, and in classes once a week which totaled about a 50 hours "work week", so I was VERY relieved when teaching ended and then classes ended, which leads me to my exciting news...
  • I'M DONE WITH MY UNDERGRADUATE CAREER!! I was planning on graduating in December but I decided to graduate without my teaching certification, since my goal is to be a speech therapist, so it saved me money and time, and allowed me to graduate earlier. So now I will be walking in August and cannot wait!
I know that's a lot, but I think it's pretty summarized up! Now on to recently update y'all...

About two weeks ago, our family lost a VERY important person...my grandfather, who I called "Dandy". Andrew and I were on our way to a gun show (yeah we're Texans) outside of Houston when we got the call that my grandmother found my grandfather in the yard and he was gone...it immediately took my breathe away and all I could say was "no" over and over again. I still to this day don't feel like he can be gone. He was in great health and this was all so sudden. I was privileged to see his body in the hospital and kiss his head while it was still slightly warm, which is something I will cherish forever. Those next few days were some of the hardest ever...I spent that first night sleeping next to my grandmother, which was wonderful and painful at the same time. I think we maybe slept for an hour...we cried, reminisced, and cried more...because it took the rest of our family a day or two to get to Houston, my sweet uncle and I took over making lists, making calls, helping with arrangements, etc. I truly believed all of this was my way of grieving...it allowed me to stay busy, but still face the reality of what had happened...I know I'm young to be a part of things like funeral plans and writing obituaries, but I know my Dandy would have been so proud of me and grateful that my grandmother didn't have to do all of that. I ended up being there for a week straight before going home for just one night.

My parents are now back home and most relatives are back to their normal routines, and the rest of us are trying to figure out how to go on without him here. I have been privileged to stay with my grandmother on and off this last week which I have LOVED. It's hard without him there, but it means so much to me to be there with her. My grandparents truly are my WORLD and if you asked me two weeks ago, I would have told you I believed they were immortal. I was blessed to be so close to them and know them not only as grandparents, but people. Dandy was an AMAZING person. He lived a righteous and pure life that yearned after the things of God. He was a godly husband, father, and grandfather and thought of everyone else before himself. There's so much more I could say, but to sum it up, he was a righteous, wonderful, loving, artistic man and they don't come like him anymore! These last two weeks I have seen God in so many memories we have made. Dandy touched so many lives, and so many came to know Jesus because of him.   I can only hope one day people will say something like that about me, which gives me A LOT to aim for!  If y'all want to see pictures of him and know more about him, you can see his obituary at here!

Okay, that was a long post, so I'll conclude by adding some pictures that relate to this past year. O and on a side note, last week I interviewed for my first after college "big girl" job and got it! God is so good!

Hope y'all enjoy these!

Here we are at our northern reception with a rice crispie TEXAS!

We made candied apples this fall!

I flew up and surprised my brother for his 13th birthday!

We celebrated my mother in-law's 50th birthday! Doesn't she look great?!

Here's the Thanksgiving meal I made! (okay, I didn't can the cranberry sauce)

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everybody! It was a nice relaxing day here at the Hahn house. It was so calm that it didn't even seem like the 4th! Andrew worked all day and we had plans to go to a church party which got called off (our sweet pastor's wife was sick :( ). I spent the day baking and brought Andrew a peach dump cake at work for their dessert contest. And it came in 2nd place! After that I went to the pool to get my tan on. It was so hot that even the water was like bath water. Soooo nice! Once Andrew got home from work I had the whole house clean, laundry done, and we were ready to have a few friends over for some late night 4th of July fun!

As for this weekend, Andrew and I drove into Houston on friday night, spent the night with my grandparents, and enjoyed some quality time together. On Saturday, we got ready for....MY FIRST RED SOX game! Yes siree! So far, it was the highlight of my summer! I'm not exactly sure how I spent 18 years of my life in MA and I had never been to a game. and I LOVE the Red Sox...like, die hard fan. Regardless, the game on Saturday was AMAZING! Not only did we win, but I was beyond overjoyed to see all the players I always see on TV. It was such a sweet memory for Andrew and I. It was pretty cool to be at my first Sox game with my husband :) We had so much fun! We got a huge bowl of chili cheese fries, Andy got a giant beer, and I took so many pictures! The rest of our visit was so fast after that. We visited some more of my family and had breakfast on Sunday morning with Andrew's parents, then headed back home. Here's a few pictures from the game :)

                                             We were very excited :)

Me with our HUGE chili cheese fries

Red Sox fan and an Aggie! Best combo!

                                                We had pretty decent seats!

On Sunday, Andrew had to work for a few hours and I hit the gym and then we headed off to Bible study. What a fun weekend! It was so nice to have a few days off work and get to spend them with my husband! Now that my summer school is over (except my online class) I get to focus more on working and enjoying the rest of the summer. This week we're coming up on 6 months of marriage! Time really does fly! Hope y'all are having a great 4th with whatever your plans are! Thank God we live in such a great country! Happy Birthday America! Have a great week!

So Blessed!!

Okay, it's been about a month since I've last posted and I'm ashamed! Sorry all! Since then, we have had graduation parties, a wedding, and overall been busy with day to day life. Andrew and I both work a lot! Okay so he works about 40 and me about 35 (and I'm taking a few summer classes), so by the end of everyday we are wiped out! Especially with this Texas heat of 100 these last few weeks.

This last week has been especially nice and that is what I want to share with you! Up until this last week, I had been really lonely for my family and friends in Boston, especially because I miss having a bunch of girlfriends around. Andrew and I were also transitioning into the routine of both of us working so much and the business definitely took some getting used to! okay okay, so last week Andrew was off for a few days. He spent an overnight in Houston with his best friend (my cousins) and got to see his family. Although I really missed him, I knew it was good for him to get away for a day and spend some time with our loved ones. Maybe 10 minutes after he left for Houston, I was trying to not feel lonely and I got a phone call. One of his sweet aunts called me and we had such a great conversation. She told me how much her and the rest of his family love me, how glad they are that I'm his wife, how grateful they are to have me in their family, and said she prays for Andrew and I (and our marriage) daily. At the end of the conversation she prayed this wonderful prayer for me and it just made my night. It was as if God himself called me to reassure me that I am a good wife even though I didn't want my husband to leave for a night, and that I am loved. In that moment I felt so blessed to be a part of a new family who loves me and prays for us all the time!

The very next day I got a card in the mail from my grandmother with a very sweet note about how proud her and my grandad are of me, how they think of me daily, and to remind me that when I'm overwhelmed I can always go to Jesus. Also enclosed was a sweet bookmark with an encouraging note. After reading it and calling her to thank she, she further affirmed me, telling me they talk about me daily and pray for us all the time. She also reminded me that I may be in a place where I lack girlfriends, but I am not at all alone :)

Late that night, Andrew got back from Houston and I have never been more happy to see him. Even thought he was gone for a only a day, I realized just how much I need him and how glad I am to be married to him, my best friend. I'm pretty sure I missed him from the moment he drove away. O by the way, last week marked 5 months that we've been married, so that added to the sweetness of the week :)

This weekend was also full of fun for the two of us. On Saturday, we went to a wedding for my former roommate and good friend, Michal. We spent the morning running errands together and did a little shopping (which we never do) for our wedding clothes and it was so fun! It was about an hour away, so we rode with my other former roomies and they're sweet guys and had such a fun time. The day was full of lots of laughs, good catch up time, and we hung out until the early hours of Sunday morning.

My favorite roommates and sweet friends with the Bride!

Gorgeous Cake! And delicious!!

Me and the Hubs! I think he was trying to be silly with the serious face :)

                                                   LOVE :)

Andrew and I spent most of Sunday sleeping...I think we're getting old. We slept til almost noon, met up with our friends for lunch before they headed back out of town, and then came home and preceded to sleep til almost 7! I think the exhaustion of working a lot, the summer heat, and a busy weekend was just too much for us! We spent the night watching the NBA finals (yay for the Mavs!), eating leftover pizza, and playing Little Big Planet (our new bonding video game) :)

Okay, I know I've written a lot!! Sorry, I think this is what happens when you haven't blogged in a month! There's just so much more I want to write, but I'll spare y'all ;) So far, we're into another week and it's already been so nice! Monday morning Andrew surprised me with homemade waffles and even made dinner when I got off work! Today, we both worked and spent the evening helping our dear friends, Jeremy and Erin move into their new house! It was so nice to spend the night with our church family and get to bless them :) Ok, I have got to go to bed! I'm battling a slight cold (maybe allergies??) and I have class and work tomorrow!

I promise to update more often so y'all don't have to read another novel!! Happy Tuesday!
