EyeBuyDirect.com- Such a great site!
Ok y'all, I want to tell you about this great website Andrew discovered about a month ago! For anyone who needs, wears, or uses glasses you know that prescription glasses aren't cheap! About a year ago my husband lost his presciption glasses, then his insurance changed so vision wasn't covered anymore, so he decided to go without him. Now, he can see without them but not very far, so he's been kind of stuck. About a month ago he came across this great website called eyebuydirect.com ! If you already know your presciption (he did because he had gotten his eyes tested the year before), all you have to do is enter the information and they will put that presciption in any frames you choose! The best part is that the frames are SUPER affordable! They are the same frames you would get at any eye glass store, but without the outrageous prices!
You can choose a super chear pair that just has a basic lense, or you can get them coated with anti glare, water repellant, and even anti scratch! Also, they have all kinds of lenses whether you need bifocals, single vision, progressive, or even polycarbonate!
Another feature I liked was that you can choose your face shape to best see what kind of frame would look the best on you! For those of you who don't need presciption glasses, they have non presciption sunglass that are really cute (as well as Rx ones!)
Andrew was able to get two pairs for around $35! Their customer service was really great and the website was so easy to use! I know this is such a random post, but I'm a big fan of finding great deals and telling others about them. I was skeptical at first because they are so cheap, but my husband really likes them and they have made a world of difference for him. Since he got them, he's told everyone he knows that wears glasses about them. Even if your insurance will cover a pair, why not have a backup pair that costs little but works the same??
I tell you all this to let you know that I will be hosting my first ever giveaway and the winner will get a free pair of eyeglasses (of their choice) for this website! Even if YOU don't need them, maybe your significant other does and you could win the glasses for them? The giveaway will be open for a week!
*All the opinions of eyebuydirect.com are strictly my own.*

Fresh, clean, and nice!
What a productive weekend!! They're one of my favorites kinds of weekends just so ya know!
On Friday Andrew and I made dinner together (breakfast supper!) and watched the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics which we really liked. We've now decided that we will be moving to England (actually, we're kind of serious, it's one of those in the next few years goals we have because...well, why not?)
On Saturday I finally bought my cap and gown for graduation which is now a mere 11 days away. It was such a surreal feeling going to the campus bookstore and and grabbing my cap and gown...such a feeling of finality. It started to hit me that I really had (after 5 long years, a horrible freshman year, and two different majors) finished my bachelor's degree. I know it will hit me even more on graduation day. After that, the hubs and I ran some errands, came back home and attacked our BIG project for the day! After a year and half of living in our apartment, we decided to rearrange our room which if you know me, is something I love to do. Since our room isn't very big, it took some maneuvering but it looks so great now and feels so fresh! I also went through all my shoes and definitely discovered I have amajor slight shoe addiction. We also decided to take the TV out of our room because I guess it's not good for couples to keep a TV in their room, plus it fit awkward and now we have room for our iHome again :) At the end of the day we both felt so at peace in our room and it feels fresh, clean, and new!
On Sunday, we went to breakfast, ran more errands, and tackled project #2 which is still in the works. After being married for a year and a half, we FINALLY spent our Bed, Bath, & Beyond gift cards on things our home needed. Everytime we've gone in, we could never decide, but yesterday we went on a mission for some specific things our home needed. After spending quite a while in there, we now have a nice new bathmat, a bedskirt (makes our bed look 1000 times better no lie!), a new paper towel holder (ours was super flimsy), a drying mat, and a few other small items. It was such a blessing to have those gift cards because these were things I've wanted for a while and not having to spend our money on them was so nice!
So, onto the 2nd project...
My parents will be in town for my graduation and we have this spare bedroom...well, since our apartment is little, the spare bedroom has become a catch-all for everything random we own, kind of like a garage. We've gone through the stuff before, but now we're determined to make it a nicer spare room and minimize the stuff in there, instead of just compressing it. After several hours and a giant trash bag later, the room is coming along nicely! My goal is for it to be our spare room/guest room/other tv room/study!
So that's it for our weekend! Not super exciting to others, but it really was relaxing (despite the errands and big projects!). In between the chaos and productivity, we also watched the Olympics, made cookies, and laughed a lot! It was so nice to just spend it with Andrew and not be going anywhere! When you're building a home together it just takes time, but it's certainly the little things like bath mats and bedskirts that make a house feel more put together and it's those things that make me happy.
What kind of things did y'all do this weekend??

Overwhelmed...
I know I already posted today, but sometimes it helps to just let out how you're feeling and right now I'm feeling overwhelmed.
I feel like I have so many thoughts going through my mind that I'm going to explode. I feel like this week the enemy is running my mind because he enjoys when we worry and feel hopeless and that's how I've felt on and off...
The first thing on my mind is the car problems we have been having for a week now. We own 3 cars, and 1 of them is working. We finally had money to buy the part we needed to fix my Jeep and our Camry decided to break down that same day...after a week of dealing with this, we brought a NEW alternator for the Camry and it decided to now start having other issues. They are both old cars (15 years old) and it's coming down to us needing a more reliable vehicle. And since there's 2 of us who have different daily schedules, we need 2 cars, so bottom line, we need a working vehicle. I've been overwhelmed because I don't know about taking on a car note and just the whole process of finding a working car seems daunting...
I've also let my mind wander because my breast mass has gotten bigger. This is so frustrating to me because even though it's benign, it shouldn't be growing. I'm currently waiting for funding from the sponsorship program I am in (with the breast clinic) so that I can have surgery to have the mass removed. What is frustrating is while I'm waiting it's growing, and I'm freaking out that they're going to have to remove even more tissue and then what? I'll have like half a breast? and that scares the life out of me...
Next, I'm freaking out my grad school, which is dumb because it's still a year away but I'm concerned I won't get in to the ONLY program I want and then I start asking myself what if I dont even want to pursue that field? what do I want to do? what job would I like to have if this career path doesn't open for me? why did I pursue a teaching degree when I dont want to teach? So overall I feel overwhelmed and honestly worthless...I feel like I've wasted 5 years because now that I'm done with school and have a full time job, it's not AT ALL paying me what a degree should and that's really depressing to me...
Basically this week I feel down trodden, overwhelmed, worthless, slightly hopeless, and my mind is exhausted...I know most of the things in my head are lies that the enemy put there, so anyone who reads this-prayers are greatly appreciated!! I know I serve a faithful, loving God who is our constant provider. He knows my future down to the minute. He knows what I was destined to be, where I'm destined to serve, and I need to REMEMBER that. God is sooooo much bigger than all my worries, but today it felt good to get them out.

Family time!
Happy Monday!
Wow this weekend went by fast! Too fast! Isn't that just how weekends go though? You wait all week long for the weekend and then it just flies by and next thing you know, it's Monday...boo.
We had such a fun weekend this past weekend! On Friday, we went to dinner with my friend and her husband and then went and saw Batman with my other friend and her husband. I liked the movie, but it seemed too evil for too long! Maybe it's because I prefer light hearted movies like comedies or romance. Yep, I'm such a girl!
On Saturday, we slept in (ahhh my favorite part of the weekend), took our time getting ready and headed off to Houston for a family reunion! Andrew's dad's side of his family all got together for a mini-reunion and a BBQ and we had a lot of fun! Andrew's aunt and uncle own a big ranch so we definitely had a "country stlye" party. They had the normal fixin's for BBQ like baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, etc and then amazing meat like pulled pork, roast chicken, and ribs :) His aunt also made blackberry cobbler and apple dumplings! Needless to say, I'll be happy to be back at the gym this week just to feel "lighter" again :) The night was full of laughs, a few "hay rides" (the kids went on rides in their huge truck), catch up time, and of course mosquitoes! Andrew and I spent the night with a bunch of the cousins including my sister in law and her boyfriend and it was nice just to be around family. I had a nice long catch up time with his aunt (we love just visiting and catching up on life!) and the kids played cards games, poker, and pool.
The momma pig and her piglets at the ranch!
Sunday was more family time for us! Andrew's cousin and uncle cooked a big breakfast (another I'll have to run off!) and we had more time to visit and the guys talked/looked at guns for quite a while! (what else are you supposed to talk about in Texas? just kidding, being New England raised I did NOT grow up around gun talk at all!) The guys also went out to the barn to go catch the quail that had escaped (funny to watch, I should have taken pictures!) Andrew and I also spent some time with his grandmother, her roommate, and his dad and he helped his dad with some things at his grandmother's house. Before we headed home, the guys went and took car of the breaks on our car which I am so grateful to have!! After a few more errands with his dad, Andrew and I headed back home! The drive itself is only a few hours and we still managed to make a late night grocery run (gotta be prepared for the week ahead! especially when we still have one car...hopefully that problem will be resolved this week!)
Overall it really was a great weekend! At first I dreaded another Houston trip, solely because it means a good amount of driving and less time to be at home. But it was so nice to visit with family, get loved on, and relax at his aunt and uncle's. Weekends like that make us want to live there so we can visit more and drive less, but then when we get home, we realize just how much we love the little world we have outside of Houston and how much more peaceful it is then the city. Regardless, wherever God wants us we will be, so it looks like we're staying put for now! Okay, I know that was a long weekend catch up, but it was full of memories and fun!

Friday's Letters!
Dear Friday, thank God you're here! This has been the longest, most exhausting, emotionally draining week ever! Although you are just another work day, you're the last one of the week so THANKS! Dear husband words can't express how grateful I am for your patient. You are probably the most patient person I have ever met. You dealt with a lot this week from me from tears to absolute tantrums, and I'm so very sorry. Thank you for being my listener, my encourager, and my cheerleader. I promise to make next week a lot easier on you! Dear eye lids, please stop being so swollen. I know I brought it upon myself with all my tears, but still...Dear breast mass please stop growing! I know you're benign and all, but you shouldn't be growing and it's freaking me out, so please, just shrink now. Dear mom and dad I miss you so much and wish we lived closer. Yesterday, the university sent you a letter congratulating you for having your child graduate and it made me THRILLED to read it. I can't wait to show it to you in a few weeks! And yes, we're framing it!! Dear me (yes, that's a little odd but hey these are my letters!) you have got to pull it together because you have been a mess of a person this week. You car problems will be resolved because God's in control and despite how you may feel, He never gives you more than you can handle. You have a wonderful husband so TREAT him that way! Also, you're about to graduate! Get excited! You worked for 5 years for this, so enjoy it! Dear God thanks for you're unending grace for me! I'm so glad it will never run out! Dear husband (yep, one more time!) I love you so much and I am so excited for our weekend ahead! It looks like Houston lies in the future, which I'm not thrilled about, but as long as I'm with you, it'll be great!
Ok y'all I know that was a lot of letters! What are your letters today?? I'd love to hear some, so leave them in my comments!! And don't forget to link up with Ashley if you have a blog too!

It's OK Thursdays
This is my first "It's OK" Thursday! I found this on Cait's blog and loved the idea! So here we go!
It's OK...
To skip your early morning work out for extra snuggle time with the hubby
To HAVE to have morning coffee in order to function for the day
To wear blue nail polish because it reflects the mood of your week...blue.
To be excited that after 5 years, college graduation is 3 weeks away!
To go to the bathroom like a million times a day because you drink so much water at work
To sing REALLY loud to the radio on your way home from work to relieve stress
To hate how loud the brakes squeak on your car
To have a good cry
To wash your feet before you go to bed
To feel excited when your blog pageviews increase
To have a weekend with no plans because anything could happen!

What I'm Loving!
Click here to link up with Jamie's blog!
Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope y'all are having a great week! All I can say about mine is that thank goodness it's about halfway over! I find in weeks that seem to pose more challenges, reflecting on the things I am loving helps so much! So here's What I'm Loving this week!
I'm loving that my sweet husband is back home from his road trip/family visit last week! It's crazy how a week apart can make you value each other sooooo much more! Our home feels back to normal now and it's so nice to know that when I walk in the door after work, he'll be there!
I'm loving this new scent from bath and body works! It smells so beachy and summery! Since this is the first summer I've spent 40 hours a week in doors, it's nice to come home to a summery sweet smell to remind me that it is actually summer :)
I'm loving having central air conditioning! I feel like that's something in Texas we take for granted, but it's been so hot everyday that the central air feels amazing to walk into! Since I grew up in the northeast, we didn't need central air, but right now my family's dealing with a heat wave and it just makes me even more grateful for AC!
Before! |
After! Yum!!! (courtesy of pinterest) |
And as always I'm loving my husband! He's been so good to me this week! He was super patient on my crummy Monday, brought me lunch at work, and just listened :) On Tuesday, he left me a sweet note on the front door wishing me a great day at work and letting me know he would make sure the house was clean before I got home. He's so encouraging to me and despite dealing with our car issues this week, he's extremely hopeful and keeps me from getting overwhelmed!
He's so handsome! |
These are just some of the things I'm loving this week! How about y'all??

Let's find the positive
Happy Tuesday everyone!
I wanted to post yesterday to update y'all on the past week's goings on but yesterday was an overall sucky day and I knew my post would end up being one entire rant or whine and who wants to read that?? So, I'm choosing to find the positive, starting with last week!
I didn't post a whole lot last week because Andrew was out of town and I don't like people knowing when I'm home alone (can't be too safe) and I knew somehow I would end up mentioning it. Andrew took a road trip with my dad and brother (yay male bonding!) from Houston all the way back to the northeast. My dad was driving a car back home, and I couldn't get off work to go, but Andrew had the ability to go so he was able to share the driving with my dad and make a few memories with the boys in my family.
When he first left I thought, okay this can be a productive week. I'll clean out our spare bedroom, go through my closet and shoes, and deep clean the house. Yeah....that didn't really happen. I was so tired after work everyday that I managed to work out and that's about it. I didn't really factor in that I would be gone 9 hours each day...woops. So on Saturday I spent the day deep cleaning the house...and I mean the works! It looks and smells so good! I also managed to fit in a little rest and gym time :) Andrew finally came home on Sunday and we spent the day at home just relaxing which was so nice and in the afternoon I started the spare room project! I'm determined it will look better by the time my family visits for graduation!
Then we have MONDAY...
It all started when I pulled into work and my car completely died...we think it's possibly the alternator. Great. And of course, we had planned on finally purchasing another expensive part for other car on Monday so we could get it running again. Awesome timing. After that it just seemed like I couldn't get a hold of my day. Things like ordering the wrong office supplies, jamming the shredder, etc kept happening at work. To top off my day, Andrew and I went to grab dinner and I locked our house keys inside the house...which made for a super happy landlord phone call...
Looking back on my Monday it really wasn't THAT bad, with the exception of the car problems...yeah, that just stinks. Looking at the positive (God's favor in the day!), I got safely to work, Andrew got our broke down car back home safely, I work with amazing people that have a lot of grace for me (and encouragement as my boss said she would be praying for me!), our landlord is sweet and came over to let us back in, and today is a NEW day! I'm also so grateful because Andrew was so encouraging to me yesterday, he brought me lunch, prayed for me, and even left me the sweetest note this morning to wish me a great day at work and told me the house would be clean when I got home! God really is so good to me! He's full of favor and grace and I know without Him and the blessings He's given me (aka my husband) I would be a complete mess! So that's the last week in a nutshell! Not super exciting, but sometimes I like when we're living in uneventfulness...it allows us to catch our breath a little. Hope y'all have a great a Tuesday! I know I am praying that today is a better day!

What I'm loving!
It's Wednesday! You know what that means...it's What I'm Loving Wednesday!! (also the work week is almost halfway over, hurray!!) I linked up with Jamie's blog which you should definitely check out!
As always I'm loving my sweet husband! He is so people oriented and always willing to help others! His actions really encourage me to strive for being less about myself and more about others. And of course, I love my sweet kitty because she is loving and affectionate and just the right amoun of "baby" I want right now :)
These are just a few of the things I'm loving this week! How about you?!
This morning on my way to work I was thinking about what I'm loving this week and to be honest I first came up with a solid list of what I'm NOT loving which an even better reason to recognize what I am loving because it puts my week in an overall more positive place. So here's what I'm loving this week!
I'm loving God's provision in our life! That's something I am always grateful for but I especially recognize after getting groceries and paying bills and after Wally-world yesterday and I felt so truly thankful that God always meets our needs!
I'm loving the crazy rain we've had this week! The Texas land needs it so bad and it's so calming!
I'm loving that I am just one month away from graduating! It's been a long 5 years and although I finished classes in May I decided to wait to walk the stage in August so as much of my family could be there as possible. I'm so excited to have a bachelor's degree to my name!
I'm loving these shirts from Nike and want them all!
Although a little harsh, this one's my fav! Mainly because that's how I feel about healthy eating and working out! |

Happy late 4th! And other updates!
Happy late 4th of July everyone!
Even though I had my computer with me in Houston the blur of visiting family and celebrating kept me for posting. We had such a fun holiday! I hit the gym early that morning and then my dad, brother, and I went to a family pool party. Since my immediate family doesn't live in Texas, it's always so fun to have them at family events when they visit! My dad is so like his brothers and it's nice when he's actually there to share in the jokes and laughs. Our 4th was filled with food, pool time, lots of laughs, and a tour of a model home/fireworks show by the end of the night. My uncle shows houses and he took us to this AMAZINGly huge and expensive model home to watch fireworks. I was in such awe the whole time of how truly awesome that house was! Sadly my mom missed out on the fun with us but she enjoyed a quiet 4th with my grandmother.
We spent the rest of the week in Houston visitng with more family and having quality time with my parents and brother. We went to the movies, went out to eat, stayed up late...it was nice because it truly felt like summer! Especially since my work was closed so I was simply off to relax! My hubby spent the weekend installing flooring for his grandmother so he was in and out a lot but we still managed to have a lot of fun and even hit the beach! Yesterday, my mom flew back home and my dad and I spent the day together (brother was with the cousins). Andrew finished up with the flooring and we FINALLY were back home late last night! Macy was thrilled to see us! I know she's our cat, but I always wish she could come on our weekends to Houston. As much as vacationing (even a few hours away) is fun, it's definitely nice to be in my own bed at the end of the day! (although getting back to work, I would have passed on ;) Here's some fun pictures we took throughout the last few days!

O and before I forget, last week I started a health and fitness blog in hopes of encouraging and motivating others that you can choose to be healthy and fit no matter what! Since April, I've really gotten on this path to a healthier lifetstyle by choosing good, clean foods and exercising A LOT! I've lost a little weight and been building muscle to really just tone up! Even in Houston, I worked out because my gym's chain had a gym there! YAY! For anyone interested in following it, the link is here!

A wedding, some rain, and a whole lotta fun!
We had a really busy but fun weekend in Houston! On Friday night, Andrew and I made the drive in and stayed in North Houston with my grandmother for the night. On Saturday, we all went to Dennys for breakfast and spent the morning relaxing (my favorite part of the weekends!) then got ready and headed to my friend's wedding! Unlike us, we left really early which was a good idea because we ran into hurricane like rain the whole way there! The wedding was beautiful and my sweet friend Ashley looked gorgeous! I used to work with Ashley and some of my friends who did were also there so that made it even better! After the wedding, we headed to a different part of Houston and stayed with my cousin and his girlfriend. Our time with them included pool time, a movie (I fell asleep! wild woman, I know) Dennys, the boys playing Call of Duty, and an overall cozy relaxing Sunday! We drove home late last night and my cousin came with! For those of you who don't know, I met my husband through my cousin because they were BFFs in high school, so he'll be with us for the next few days which pretty much made my husband's week! Not sure what the 4th holds for us yet, but my family will be in town visiting so I'm sure we'll be up to something fun!
Me and some of my favorite people! So happy for Ashley! |

Hope y'all have a great 4th!
